Detoxifying Clay Masque

Breakouts often occur when dead skin cells that yield toxic waste clog the follicles. These impurities have a positive ionic charge to them so when clays that have a negative charge are applied to the skin, they attract the impurities to them so they can be rinsed away. The natural salicylic acid that occurs in the plant material along with the tightening and absorbing qualities of the clay, exfoliate the skin to open uo the follicles, remove all dead skin cells and infection, leaving the skin smooth and tight. The addition of the essential oils further fight infection and have a calming and anti-inflammatory effect.

Spread a medium to thick layer on face, neck, chest and/or back, avoiding eye area. Leave on for 5 to 10 minutes. Splash face with water to re-wet, then gently remove with a washcloth. Follow with a moisturizer. For a deeper exfoliation, once the dried masque has been remoistened, rub over skin with finger tips for a scrub. The masque could be irritating if it is left on too long or it is applied to a drier skin type. Since the tightening clay is stimulating blood circulation as part of the detoxification process, the skin can become very red. This redness will dissipate within 1 hour and should not be cause for alarm. Use 1 to 2 times a week for optimal results.
